Five in court for grave digging

2017-07-26 06:01

Five people appeared in the Clocolan Magistrate’s Court on Monday (24/07) for allegedly digging up graves in Hlohlolwane and using the remains for traditional medicine.

The five accused, Mpho Mokhethi (32), Moeketsi Lekoko (34), Moabe Ramoabe (32), Khotso Monyobo (32), and Mamodiehi Moketetsa (32) will remain in custody until they appear in court today (26/07) for their formal application, said Col Thandi Mbambo, spokesperson of the police.

The five were arrested after the police received a tip-off from an informant about body parts hidden in a house in Hlohlolwane.

A head, found outside the house, has been sent for forensic tests to determine whether or not it belongs to Banta Petrus Ranthako (63), whose grave had been tampered with and his corpse found without a head.
