Foetuses found, police investigating

2016-09-28 06:00

BETHLEHEM. Z Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the towns of Bethlehem and Fouriesburg are investigating cases of concealment of birth following the discovery of three foetuses.

On Friday (23/09), SAPS members in Bethlehem were summoned to a local sewerage plant where a foetus was discovered inside a container.

The find was made by an employee at the plant who alerted the police.

Another worker in Fouriesburg stumbled across two foetuses at the local dumping site on Monday (26/09).

The foetuses were in two separate glass containers.

Capt. Zweli Mohobeledi, police spokesperson, said the awaited pathologists reports into all the incidents are expected to reveal more information.

He has pleaded with the community to come forward with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Bethlehem cluster commander, Maj. Gen. Jan Tsotetsi, has appealed to members of the community in these towns to provide the SAPS with information.

“They must point out anyone who was recently expecting, but whose pregnancy has since disappeared under suspicious circumstances,” he pleaded.

Anyone with information may approach the police in either towns or call Crime Stop on 08600-10111.
