The Free State boasts top rankings with Boxing South Africa (BSA). Of these top-ranked boxers, only one is a woman. Matshediso Mokebisi, who was born and bred in Kroonstad, is ranked first in the junior featherweight division. Mokebisi is the reigning South African and World Boxing Federation (WBF) intercontinental champion in the junior featherweight division. She recently successfully defended her crown against old foe Melissa Muller.The top-ranked men include France Ramabolu, rated second in the junior middleweight division (WBF Africa) and Lerato “The Destroyer” Dlamini, rated first in the featherweight division. He is the International Boxing Federation (IBF) youth champion, while his peer Tello Dithebe is ranked ninth in the same division. Dithebe, known as Razor, is the WBF continental champion. Themba “Doctor” Ntsele is second in the junior bantamweight division. He is the reigning WBF continental champion, while Lemohang Mapitisi is ninth in the junior bantam division. New kid on the block Sihle Jelwana is ranked third in the flyweight division and Gift Pilane is in tenth position.
