THE Free State leg of the annual Old Mutual National Choir Festival is set for 17 September in the Boet Troskie Hall at the Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein.

The event will determine the provincial winner going through to this year’s national round to be staged at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena in Johannesburg on 10 and 11 December.

Choirs compete for big prize money.

In the regional round, the winning choirs in first, second and third place in the large category walk away with R10 000, R9 000 and R8 000 respectively, while standard category winners pocket R8 000, R7 000 and R6 000 for the top three positions.

The choral music event is underway across South Africa and also makes provision for choirs in Botswana, Zimbabwe and Swaziland.
