The number of persons that have recovered from Covid-19 in the Free State stood at 108 at the time of Express going to print for this week. The Department of Health confirmed that the number of cases stood at 148, since the detection of the first case in March. The department attributed the recoveries to effective treatment and positive response by patients. The number of tests done stood at 16 532 across the province.Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the department, said the death toll had been at six since March. He said 123 7703 people had been screened and they had successfully traced 3 114 of the 3 148 known contacts. “Our first line of defense, the nurses, are on the forefront of fighting the pandemic and epidemics by providing high quality and respectful treatment, and care,” said Mvambi.
