The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has set Friday (14/12) as the final deadline for social grant beneficiaries to exchange the old white card for the new gold card.
Sassa has warned that the danger of holding on to the old card, which has expired, is that beneficiaries risk losing benefits in future.
Sandy Godlwana, Sassa’s provincial spokesperson, said from January 2019 grants will not be available on the old white card.
To make sure they receive their January grant, beneficiaries must get the new gold Sassa card before Friday or provide their personal bank account details to Sassa through the completion of the relevant form.
Beneficiaries must take their ID card or ID document and the old card to any Sassa office or the Post Office to get the new card.
