“Very successful, with the best growth including more exposure of local talent and an improvement in 2019. as compared to the previous years.”

That was the response from Mayibuye Dance Academy Manager Letlhogonolo Lucky Nche following the most talked about 2019 Dance Pages Festival hosted in Kimberley on 26-28 September.

This year’s festival took a more positive approach in a form of showcasing new talent through accommodating two schools and three local community groups in its three days programme.

The schools were Floors2 and Tshireleco High school and local groups were Ubuhle Cultural group, TVD Performing Arts and Kimberley Boys Arts Group.

Being the 5th festival to be hosted, Nche admits that the best move towards improving the festival was through hosting auditions to spice up the show can be commended to have pulled crowds.

According to the manger, extreme growth is being experienced among the students to such an extend that they just qualified for the for the first time to participate in the upcoming Mzansi Fela Festival at Pretoria’s State Theatre.

“The group has already qualified in the auditions and will perform from the 12th in the festival which will run between 1-16 December,” Nche revealed.

“At least eight of our dancers will get exposure to African countries,” he added excitedly.

He applauds the show for having created an employment platform in the Arts industry at a local level.

“There is still growth for more opportunities locally in various fields like in this instance where groups and a school were commissioned, including other fields like Stage Managers, Lightning, Technicians and Crew Members.
