THE South African Police Service (SAPS) at Bloemspruit are looking for the driver of a vehicle after a hit and run incident in which a young girl was killed.

The incident happened on 16 December, Reconciliation Day.

According to Sgt Ikobeng Hlubi the vehicle that caused the death of the 10-year-old girl has been identified as a green Toyota sedan.

The model and registration numbers are unknown.

“The incident happened on the Dewetsdorp Road near the Valley Cash Store in Phase 6 in Bloemfontein on 16 December 2015, at approximately 20:00.

“It is alleged that a 10-year-old pedestrian was crossing the road with her younger brother when the vehicle hit her.

“The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the incident and apparently sped from the scene,” said Hlubi.

The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Anyone who might have witnessed the accident or know anything that might assist the police in finding the driver of the vehicle, should contact WO Johann Roodt on 051-503-4000 or 082-827-6780.
