The police in the Northern Cape have welcomed the ten-year prison sentence that was handed down to Minah de Wee (26) in the Noupoort Regional Court on Friday, 17 August.

The court found that De Wee had fatally stabbed her boyfriend, Isak Bassie Riet (37), five times on 3 December 2017. He died on the scene.

The incident had apparently been triggered by a quarrel between De Wee and Riet.

Capt. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, said the accused had been arrested on the same day and was granted R1 000 bail.

Brig. Nomahlubi Sofika, commander of the Pixley ka Seme Cluster, commended Det. WO Luvuyo Mgengwana of the police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for a job well done.
