Be on the lookout for one of the 500 golden tickets in Express on Wednesday, 7 June.

In an exciting campaign, the North-West University (NWU) will place a total of 9 000 golden tickets in Volksblad and its community papers in the region over the coming weeks. Successful candidates may qualify for reduced study fees. Not every newspaper will have a ticket.

The golden ticket campaign serves as an incentive to prospective students to enquire about studies at the NWU. It is not a prerequisite.

The contact details for applications are on the golden ticket, as well as on the NWU advertisements for the campaign in the various newspapers.

Matriculants and other young people who consider full-time studies at the NWU next year can qualify for merit bursaries.

In accordance with the terms, the student will have to achieve an average of 75% or higher in the Gr. 12 final exams.

The bursary will be awarded on the basis of an arithmetic average of the percentage of the students’ six best subjects, Life Orientation excluded.

However, the percentage attained in non-designated subjects will be reduced by 10% when calculating for the merit bursaries.

The student’s average, calculated per percentage, could qualify for:

  • 85%-100% = 100% reduction in class fees;
  • 80%-84% = 75% reduction in class fees; or
  • 75%-79% = 25% reduction in class fees.

Be sure to get your golden ticket and learn more about academic bursaries at the NWU.
