ASPIRING gospel singer Mohlomi Mohale (33) is determined to conquer the gospel industry through his highly-anticipated album O na le matla.

After singing for years in church choirs, Mohale says he hopes the new album, set to be released in May, will minister and uplift people from all walks of life.

Currently residing in Bloemfontein, the Botshabelo-born musician yearns to work with gospel maestros like Benjamin Dube, William Sejake and Neyi Zimu.

Despite challenges of poverty, rejection and exploitation in the music industry, Mohale says God remains his anchor and inspiration.

“I want to serve God with my calling and hopefully make a difference in the world,” says Mohale.

Mohale says one of the pastors recognised his talent at the age of 14 and has continued to support his dream. Mohale’s love for gospel music has propelled him to pursue a career in music.

In 1999, Mohale formed a group called the Benjamins, and later joined a group, called Witness Cultural Gospel, in 2002.

“I went through many stages in my gospel music, joining one group after the other. Days spent singing with the Benjamins has tailored me to what I am today, and now I’ve just completed my debut album,” he says.

Mohale has shared the stage with the likes of Press during the Coca-Cola Pop Stars 101 competition. He also had a stint on an Afro Café television programme with Star Factor Band.

Mohale plans to shoot his first live DVD on 28 May at the Performing Arts Council of the Free State (Pacofs).

Tickets will be available at Pacofs from the end of April.

People interested in booking Mohale, can contact his management on 078-002-2705.
