Up to 33 151 items have been distributed to beneficiaries throughout the Frances Baard District by the Christel Armstrong Knitting Guild since its inception in 1986.

This is thanks to overwhelming response by donors, who put in hard work and remained open-handed to keep the less fortunate warm throughout many winters.

Through Dorothy-Anne Howitson, co-ordinator of the guild, the committee extended its heartfelt gratitude to each one for their continued loyal support.

“Without you, we would not be able to supply the beautiful garments for the many that are in such desperate need. The feedback from receivers of warm items is totally overwhelming,” Howitson said to the donors.

The beneficiary organisations are: the ACVV, Bapelo Home, Christina Kiddie Children’s Home, Child Welfare South Africa, the Du Toitspan Primary School, Destiny House, the Elizabeth Conradie School, the Gogo and Ntamkhulu Old-Age Home, the Vergenoeg Hospice (both the children’s section and home-based care), the Kimberley Hospital Complex (oncology department and ICU premature birth unit), the Martha’s Sunday School Kids-Witdam-Grace Baptist Church, the Dutch Reformed Church Newton, the Resthaven Old-Age Home, the Sally Aucamp Home, St Matthew’s Parish, the Anglican Church and the Pelindaba Project at the Kimberley Baptist Church.
