HARRISMITH. – A 5 km Re Kaofela Fun Walk/Run was hosted on Saturday (01/10) at the Tshiame Stadium outside Harrismith.

The event was organised by the Tshiame Youth Club, a non-profit organisation (NPO), and a number of people registered to take part in the fun event.

Lekgotla Fish Mokoena, the founder of the organisation, said the fun walk or run was their way of giving back to the community.

He said the event was not only for people in Tshiame, but was open to everyone.

“We had a very successful event. The registration fee was kept low to encourage as many participants as possible to join in the fun. Each participant received a certificate and his or her name in a lucky draw,” he said.

He said the fun event was held to encourage all ages and abilities to become more active.

“After the run or the walk, participants received their fruit and water and enjoyed a local band performance while waiting for the prize drawing announcement. This community event drew over 100 participants. The Tshiame Youth Club wants to congratulate all participants who took part,” he said.

The Tshiame community attended to cheer the runners. He said they all got the opportunity to view the beauty of Tshiame while running or walking, which made the day extra special.

“It was an amazing morning in the true spirit of the Tshiame community. This day could not have materialised without the 12 volunteers that worked with enthusiasm to give all participants a great experience.
