The campaign #StrongerTogether, in support of the Springbok rugby team, was record breaking for the duration of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. According to a social media analysis, globally, the #StrongerTogether hashtag was mentioned 3 640 times in the news and 213 000 times on social media in October. In total, the hashtag was found to have a social reach of 5,33 million people. Social media mentions that included the #StrongerTogether hashtag reached four peaks during October: on the days when the Springboks were playing Italy, Canada, Japan and Wales.The hashtag has been used by many South Africans to show their support for the Bokke, however, Japan is the top country to include the hashtag in social media mentions. South Africa comes in second at 14,89% of global social media mentions that include #StrongerTogether, and 91,30% of social media mentions in Africa.
