The Hawks in the Free State have welcomed the High Court’s dismissal of Capt. Henk Prinsloo’s application to be acquitted on two counts of murder.

Prinsloo is one of five suspects charged with the alleged murder of Samuel Tjexa (35) and Seun Tangasha (29) on 6 January. Capt. S’fiso Nyakane, Hawks spokesperson, said at its sitting on 14 May in Parys the High Court dismissed Prinsloo’s application to have him acquitted on the two counts of murder charges.

“Prinsloo submitted his 174 application for acquittal through his lawyer on 11 May. However, the presiding judge dismissed the application and the officer will stand,” said Nyakane.

“Prinsloo’s involvement was raised by an eye witness and he was positively identified during an identification parade. It is alleged that he was called to the crime scene and allegedly joined in the assault of the two men,” said Nyakane.

The other co-accused are Boeta van der Westhuizen, Anton Loggenberg, Cor Loggenberg, Loedie van der Westhuizen and Miela Jansen van Vuuren.
