The hearing of the man linked to the murder of Naledi Chaka (4) has been postponed to 13 September for further police investigation. The suspect reappeared in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (07/08). He faces charges of murder and kidnapping.This follows his arrest in connection with the murder of Naledi, whose body was discovered in a pit-toilet in the suspect’s yard in Selosesha, Thaba Nchu. The body was discovered on 26 July after the child went missing on 21 July.Sgt Martin Xuma, police spokesperson, said the suspect was not asked to plead on the serious charges instituted against him. He also did not apply for bail. The suspect remains in custody while the investigation surrounding Naledi’s death continues. Xuma said the investigation includes forensic evidence to further determine the cause of death, and to establish whether or not the child was raped. The 36-year-old suspect is a professional nurse. On the day Naledi went missing, her friends alleged that a tall man, who was travelling on foot, lured her away by promising her sweets. The alleged crimes occurred after that.
