THE newly-appointed MEC for Social Development in the Northern Cape, Past. Gift van Staden, handed over school packages and school shoes to 40 learners of the Kim Kgolo Primary School in Galeshewe.

Hardly a month in his new position as MEC, Van Staden heeded the call to assist the disadvantaged learners in the Francis Baard region on Friday, 11 March. According to Moss Tyuthuza, the communications officer of the Department of Social Development, the programme is ongoing around the pro-vince.

In this programme, the disadvantaged beneficiaries are identified by social workers at different schools.

Tyuthuza announced that the same packages would be handed over to 32 learners at the Hartsvallei Primary School in Majeng.
