The Hebron Faith Centre has been hard at work making the communities of the Northern Cape a better place.

This non-profit organisation handed over 476 sanitary pads, which were donated by De Beers Consolidated Mines, to the Marydale Sonskyn Intermediate School, the Emmanuel Secondary School and the Pescodia High School on 21 September.

The organisation has been up and running for the past three years and on “good days” it relieves hunger by providing soup for children. They are also provided with Bibles.

Project manager Rolene van Staden said that the organisation depended on donations and without this it would cease to exist.

“There is a big need in the community for food, school shoes and toiletries,” said Van Staden.

“This year we would like to host a ‘White Christmas’ for the children of the community of Roodepan.

“We would like to get together and create the Christmas spirit for the little ones, and pray for a peaceful festive season. However, we can only host such events if we receive donations.”

Van Staden and her team has travelled to far-flung parts of the province, such as Marydale near Upington, to deliver necessities to the needy.

“Our aim is to provide care for the needy and we will continue to serve remote areas throughout the Northern Cape, because God has given us the grace to do what he laid on our hearts as a team.”
