The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit of the Frances Baard Cluster appeals to the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of two alleged rapists.

Olebogeng Tawana, police spokesperson, said the pair escaped arrest at a rape scene in Douglas.

The incident is reported to have happened on 9 March when the victim and her partner were walking from a local tavern in Bongani, Douglas.

“The couple alleged that they were accosted at knife point and robbed of their belongings. They were both assaulted,” stated Tawana.

“After the robbery and assault, one of the suspects raped the 24-year-old woman.”

Anyone with information that could assist in bringing the perpetrators to book, is requested to call the investigating officer, Det. Const. Nomonde Mothelesi, on 053-838-4200.
