THE new production by the international group Brigham Young University (BYU) Young Ambassadors, Heartsongs: Melodies of Love, is set to wow audiences with live stage performances in the Sand du Plessis Theatre on 28 April.

This will be the first time the show is staged in the city of Bloemfontein. The BYU Young Ambassadors’ concerts provide a glimpse into their unique vision of international understanding, born from decades of goodwill tours around the globe, states Shane Wright of the organisation.

Heartsongs: Melodies of Love includes a ten-piece band and a performing cast of 20 singers and dancers.

The production highlights some of the world’s all-time favourite love songs. Show tunes are derived from award-winning Broadway musicals such as How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Cinderella, Singing In the Rain, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. It also features international hits by the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Adele and Michael Jackson.

The show promises high-energy performances of traditional favourites, combined with original melodies written for this season’s new show. The audience can tap along with everything from dance routines from the 1920s to the syncopated rhythms of the Caribbean Islands.

Now approaching its 45th year, the Young Ambassadors group has literally circled the earth with the next generation of contemporary sounds and choreography.

It has performed in 66 countries, appearing before millions of audience members, often including royalty and government leaders.

The Young Ambassadors ensemble is produced by the School of Music in the College of Fine Arts and Communications at the Brigham Young University.

The first show starts at 12:00 and the second at 19:00. Tickets are available at Pacofs Computicket and cost R50, R80 and R100. A group of 25 people will pay R30 per person.
