Amy Leigh Lynch (7), a Gr. 1 learner of the West End Primary School in Kimberley, has been chosen as the September winner for the Noordkaap Let’s Play Sport Star of the Month for her sporting rhythmic gymnastics.

In June 2019, Amy Leigh participated on level three in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Zones Festival in Jeffrey’s Bay. She received a silver medal for her ball routine and a silver medal for her free dance routine – thus ending second overall in the u.7 category.

Furthermore, she achieved the following:

4 May: At the Rhythmia Club Competition she received a silver medal and ended second overall.

11 May: At the Klerksdorp School of Gymnastics competition she received a silver medal and ended second overall.

18 May: At the Floors Club Competition she ended first overall and was announced as the best level three gymnast.

At all three events she was awarded gold medals as per the South African Gymnastics Federation’s (SAGF) standards due to her overall score.

Amy Leigh is part of the Rhythmia Gymnastics Club and is trained by Tazmiah Francis.

Her motto is, “Pain is gain”.

  • Amy is the second last Let’s Play Sport Star of the Month for 2019 for Noordkaap. The winner of the annual competition will be announced at a private function in November 2019.
