Talented South Africa’s netball star player Khanyisa Chawane’s dream to play abroad has become a reality. This is after received an irresistible offer to play for Bath an England side in Europe’s Super League. This member of the Kovsie, Free State Crinums and SA’s Proteas netball team opted offer of England over offer to play for a team in the Austrian League. Khanyisa (23) said she decided taking an offer in England because it suited her better. “I am really thrilled to have signed with Bath. There is no doubt that I’m going to come out a better player. I’m grateful to have been scouted and given this opportunity to play for such a big team. It still brings tears to my eyes when I think about it. My goal has always been to play abroad and to challenge myself. I always strive to better myself and give my best on and off court,” Khanyisa. The offer rewards her impressive performance locally and internationally. The highlight was to represent SA with the Proteas netball team at the 2019 World Cup. The SA team finished fourth place overall the global competition.Khanyisa represented Kovsie (University of the Free State) netball team at this year’s Varsity Netball tournament which is exclusive for universities in the country. She will return to Bloemfontein midway through the year and will still be available for the Kovsie netball team. Khanyisa is winner of the 2018 Varsity Netball Players’ Player of the Tournament accolade. She plans to return home at Kovsie to continue with BSc Geography and Statistics studies. She made her debut for Kovsie in 2015 and the Proteas in 2018. Khanyisa,a mid-courter player follows in the footsteps of Karla Pretorius, who also had stint English netball side Bath in 2016 playing for one season.
