The Free State stream of the ABC Motsepe League has become a seven-horse race after league matches played last weekend.

The seven teams with having the potential to snatch the Free State title are current leaders, Super Eagles (46 points), Harmony (42 points), Bubchu United (41 points), Mangaung Unite (40 points), Tshiame All Stars (39 points), Bloemfontein Young Tigers (38 points) and Dikwena United (37 points).

The hotly contested title has seen no less than five clubs exchanging the baton as they fail to tighten the grip at the helm.

The scenario continued after a series of fixtures played at the weekend as some teams drop maximum points and others consolidate their standing by winning.

These matches include an intriguing derby between Central University of Technology and Tigers as well as top of the table clash between Bubchu and Eagles.

The derby saw CUT, not in the title race, handing Tigers third successive defeat winning 2-0. Tigers also lost other derbies against Bubchu, 3-2 and Mangaung Unite, 0-1.

Bethlehem-based Eagles emerged victorious in their top of the table clash against Bubchu, winning 3-2. The emphatic win saw Eagles open a gap of four points at the helm of the log.

Inspired by the results, the leaders would look consolidate their four points lead with a win over tough opponents Dikwena.

Mangaung would look to continue their steady rise when they face off Stars at the Clive Solomon Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00.

Another pulsating league championship contest will see Tigers battle it out against Harmony in Welkom. Victory will see the winner remain intact in the fiercely contest championship.

Both Tigers and Harmony are eager to make up for devastating 0-2 and 1-2 defeats to CUT and Dikwena, respectively in last weekend fixtures.

Bubchu travel to Welkom to meet relegation threatened side Dinonyana. Kick-off is at 15:00.

The Bloemfontein outfit is compelled to win to remain in the marathon race.
