Kimberley is ready to host the eighth Inter Local Football Association (LFA) tournament, and about 500 delegates are expected to attend this event.

It is scheduled to be held in October.

This was confirmed following a preparatory meeting between delegates from the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Port Elizabeth, Cape District and Northern Suburb-urban Northern Cape (Sol Plaatje) to finalise the plans on 27 January.

The delegates also gave input on the final preparations for the tournament.

According to LFA chairperson Seabata Makhele, the association is excited to represent the host city after having participated in the tournament for over three years.

“This will give us an opportunity to administer the ability and space we are granted for interaction with partnerships,” said Makhele.

“We now need stakeholders to come on board in an effort to put the Northern Cape on board,” he added.

“We will be the host for the first time in the eight years of the tournament.”

Makhele admitted that there was pressure on the association in terms of upholding the standards set by East London and Port Elizabeth, the host cities of the past two years.

“Our anticipated challenges are resources and mobilisation, which we need assistance in completing.

“Administration and catering will also play a vital role, and our central parents committee has already set up task teams.”
