The Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, has announced that 64 388 new applications were received for the 2020 academic year, with about 4 500 first-year candidates accepted.

According to Dan Maritz, CUT spokesperson, the university enrolment this year is likely to increase to 21 000 students, including first-year, returning undergraduate and postgraduate students.

“The official enrolment figures are not yet final, given that late registrations are underway.

“The enrolment of about 4 500 first-year students is in line with the university’s enrolment plan, which has been approved by the Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology.”

The institution’s official function to welcome students was held on Friday (31/01) at its Bloemfontein campus.
