Man found guilty of raping boy

A nine year old boy who was sodomised in 2015 has finally gotten justice with the conviction and sentencing of the perpetrator.

The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court sentenced the perpetrator, Tshidiso Thaele (52), to life imprisonment after being found guilty on the charge of rape.

He was sentenced on Tuesday, 24 April.

The accused was employed as a soldier by the South African National Defense Force (SANDF).

The victim was seven years old at the time of the rape.

The incident took place on 4 December 2015.

Sgt Sinah Mpakane, provincial police spokesperson, said Thaele was known by the boy. He intrigued the child by offering him R10 to buy himself sweets.

She said the accused followed the boy to the shop in Phola Park, Bloemfontein.

According to Mpakane, Thaele changed the route along the way and went into a dilapidated building where he raped the boy. She said the boy reported the incident, which led to Thaele’s arrest.
