The Brandfort Regional Court has sentenced Gaabuse Martin Nkgwedi (32) to 15 years’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of murdering Masego Makhoere.

The accused was convicted and sentenced on 6 November.

According to findings by the police, the accused had a love affair with the victim, who was killed on 24 February 2017 in Tshepong, Verkeerdevlei, near Brandfort.

Her body was reportedly found floating in a stream by a passerby, who immediately informed the police.

Nkgwedi was arrested days later in connection with the killing of the woman.

His sentencing followed the successful prosecution and intensive investigation by Const. Agosi Maruatle.
