Frederick Paulus (28) was handed a 18 years direct imprisonment sentence for the murder of his girlfriend then 29 years old, by the Springbok Regional Court on Friday, 28 July. According to the police report of Lt. Col Dimakatso Mooi, the incident happened on 4 October 2015 when Paulus took the deceased for a walk on one of the mountains in Vaalwater, Bergsig in Springbok. “An argument broke out between the two and Paulus stabbed the deceased, partly slitting her throat, and left her body there.“The decomposed body of the deceased was found four days later by the police after she was reported missing by her family,” added Mooi through a statement. Paulus was arrested and has since been in custody. He will serve 18 years direct impri-sonment for murder and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. The sentencing was welcomed by the family and the police. The cluster commander of Namaqua, Brig.
