Man sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment for murdering girlfriend

Roberto Jaffa (38) was sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment for murdering his girlfriend in 2016.

The sentence was passed by the Northern Cape High Court in De Aar on Thursday, 21 June.

According to police spokesperson, Lt. Col Dimakatso Mooi, Jaffa killed his girlfriend and buried her in a shallow grave under the bed in his shack in October 2016.

The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 25 years direct imprisonment and five years for absconding. Both sentences will run concurrently, Mooi said.

The investigating officers were applauded for a sterling job done.

The cluster commander of Pixley Ka Seme, Brig. Nomahlubi Sofika, applauded the investigating officer, Capt. Davids, and the Const. Madikane of Local Criminal Record Centre for the sterling job done in ensuring that a conviction is secured.
