Mangaung still provides key services

2020-04-01 06:00

The Mangaung Metro Municipality, through its joint operation centre, continues to render essential services during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Provision is made for bereaved families to arrange funerals, however, they are not allowed to have night vigils and are restricted to 50 people in attendance at funeral services.

Qondile Khedama, spokesperson for the metro, said cemetery staff would be on duty. He said the city’s environmental health practitioners would visit funeral undertakers within the jurisdiction of Mangaung and inform them on how to deal with a person who had died from Covid-19.

As part of measures to combat the spread of the virus, the metro will be conducting deep cleaning of densely populated areas.

In case of emergency, residents can call the Disaster Control Centre on 051-406-6666 or 051-409-9600.

For Covid-19 related enquiries, dial the Free State hotline (0800-535-554) or the national Covid-19 hotline (0800-029-999).
