MEC welcomes new governing body

The Free State MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe, has welcomed the provincial school governing body (SGB) elected on 22 March. This council’s term will expire in 2021.

Elected to key positions are Archbishop Madikela Vani (chairperson), Mosebetsi Mofokeng (deputy chairperson) and Ntambose Mzizi (secretary). Vani has 21 years of experience serving in the SGB, while Mofokeng is a former teacher who serves as a chairperson of Child Welfare Free State. Mzizi is a Mathematics teacher and chess coach.

The council’s duties entail advising the MEC on the governance of schools and providing guidance and support to members of the district SGB.
