All they have to do now is to fill up the tank and drive to participate in the various tournaments they have been missing out on.

That was the confirmation from Lebogang Daniels, the jubilant chairperson of the Tsantsabane Local Football Association (Tsalfa), following the donation of a brand-new combi and trailer by the Kolomela mine in May.

According to him, it has always been too costly and exhausting for them to participate in tournaments as they constantly have to drive to Upington.

“We had to spend between R5 000 and R7 000 and pay a driver, but now it will be much cheaper as we can also travel at our own pace,” he said.

Tsalfa vows to becoming living proof that sport can be a powerful tool for positive change in young people’s lives.

Besides strengthening their bodies, they aim to prove to the youth that sports help them hone their minds and build social skills.

Daniels expressed how they pride themselves with their new 16-seater bus that will be utilised for development purposes.

He says the handover just came in time for the Junior League that has kicked off earlier in June.

“After our first tournament we are now ready to get together our own development team, as the players, who are in scattered areas, will now be able to train twice a week,” he said. He added that they will now be able to expose their players more in an effort to prepare them to participate in the Bayhill Cup, that will be hosted in Cape Town next year.

“We are already preparing our u.19 team for that tournament that we have always been eyeing.”

The minibus will also be used to transport referees to workshops and seminars.
