Thatto Tshipo (16) needs financial assistance to realise his dream of travelling to America for the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts).

He appeals to members of the community and businesses to assist him with funding for the different designs that he has to wear in the selected competitions.

According to Thato, sponsors like Cecil Nurse and Vee’s Video has already come on board to cover the travelling costs.

He is scheduled to depart for America at the end of July and will return on 10 August.

He has been focussing on his dreams turning into reality since receiving a call in October 2016 from Kim Myers, an international scout for Arts, to perform in front of leading industry professionals from all over America at the annual Arts Convention in Orlando, Florida.

This followed his performance at the nationals for the International Arts Talent Showcase in Gauteng.

This learner of the Kimberley Technical High School is also an actor and a model for the local agency eModels.

He looks foward to being part of the South African team to represent his home town of Kimberley, as well as his province and the country, in America.

Thatto began training as an actor at the Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sport Foundation in Gr. 6 and Gr. 7 in Mafikeng in the North West before he moved back to Kimberley.

“I attend private acting classes by Carl Benade and Viki Mpompolas whenever there is an upcoming competition,” says Thatto.

“I have gained loads of exposure in the industry, doing mannequin modelling for Total Sports and Mr Price at the Diamond Pavilion Mall, participating in two fashion shows last year.

“I was the best male model at the Circus Fashion Show, Commercial Model 2016 and Overall Model 2016 at the Summer Fashion Show,” his portfolio states.

He also earned seven medals for acting and modelling in 2016. He will participate in the Summer Heat Model and Talent Search Finals in December.

He takes pride in his religious belief, hard work, consistency and humbleness.

“With those, I believe I will make it far in the entertainment industry and achieve my goals of becoming an international model and actor.

“I am very grateful for the private companies and the premier’s office that opened their doors to me.”
