In what will be a first for the Bloem Show pageant, five models were chosen as Express ambassadors to strut their stuff in trendy outfits made out of newspaper.

Models chosen to wear Express are finalists in the five categories of the 2017 Bloem Show pageant.

They are Rochaan Foster (Little Miss Daisy), Tshegofatso Tsoeu (Little Miss Bloem Show), Mignon de Beer (Miss Teen Bloem Show), Laurence Mbalula (Mr Windmill Bloem Show) and Connie Letsoela (Miss Windmill Bloem Show).

The final is scheduled to take place on 28 April at the Bloem Show, where the winners in the respective five categories will be crowned.

Letsoela is a Bachelor of Education foundation phase student and started modelling last year.

She said Boitumelo Thulo, better known as Boity, influenced her to start modelling.

She is delighted at being chosen to model as a brand ambassador for Express.

About the idea of wearing designs made from newspaper, Letsoela says: “I’m excited to be wearing the Express newspaper and I hope I will make them proud with the dress I will be making.

“I love the Miss Windmill Bloem Show pageant, because it is not about how you look, but about what is in your heart, how hard you work and your personality.”

Rochaan Foster, a Gr. R learner of the Credence Primary School, started modelling in 2015. She was encouraged to do so by her mother, Charlene.

Wearing beautiful and fashionable clothing, enjoying makeup and getting her hair styled comes naturally for this aspiring model.

Rochaan looks forward to displaying her modelling skills when wearing her newspaper fashion.

“I feel very proud and excited that I’ll be wearing my newspaper outfit,” she said.

“I see this pageant as a great way to be an ambassador for the less fortunate and to do my part in the community.”
