A total of 28 452 blankets have already been collected thanks to the Diamond Pavilion Shopping Mall’s blanket drive.

The project, supported by Noordkaap, the St Patrick’s College, the police and PEP, aims to raise blankets for the needy this winter.

According to Stienie Mangiola, a teacher at St Patrick’s CBC, the school has managed to raise a total of 182 blankets this year, which exceeds the number of blankets collected last year.

The school has been involved in the project for the past three years.

Members of the public who wish to support this cause can drop off blankets at a box at PEP in the Diamond Pavilion shopping mall or take it to the St Patrick’s CBC administration block.

“The support of the public has been good so far. We would like to call on anyone who is able to support this initiative to help us with donations,” says Amanda Barra, marketing manager of the Diamond Pavilion Shopping Mall.

“Kimberley is getting cold and we would like to keep as many people as possible warm this winter.”
