A NUMBER of eight nominees were democratically elected to serve as the new board of the local radio station, Radio Teemaneng Stereo (RTS FM).

The election took place during the annual general meeting (AGM) that was held at the Galeshewe Social Centre on Saturday (23/01).

It was decided at a meeting on 28 November last year to hold the elections on the past Saturday.

The meeting was chaired by the committee which was elected on 28 November

The committee had a list of nominees, willing to serve on the board.

The need for a new board followed a long debate on whether to recognise a newspaper advertisement setting out criteria that was agreed upon in email correspondence.

Furthermore, according to complaints raised during the meeting, the previous board members apparently failed to submit financial reports. This resulted in continuous financial mismanagement.

The list of nominees will be submitted together with the minutes of the AGM to all stakeholders of RTS FM in due course.
