As Bloemfontein Celtic gears up for one of its most important challenges, the 2019-’20 Premier Soccer League (PSL), the club unveiled certain changes on Thursday (25/07). The new technical sponsorship by Umbro, the enlistment of ten players and three captains for the new season, and the addition of three technical team members were announced. The three captains, Ndumiso Mabena, Wandisile Letlabika and Lucky Baloyi, will share the responsibility of leading the club, while the three technical team members, Motsoeneng Gopane, Lehlohonolo Seema and John Maduka, will work as co-coaches. The coaches have been retained in their respective positions following their success in steering Celtic to a top-eight bracket finish, thereby qualifying for the MTN 8 Cup, which is set to kick off soon. They were roped in after the departure of head coach, Steve Komphela, earlier this year.According to Seema and Philip Ramabodu, Celtic’s managing director, the selection of three captains and three co-coaches reflects on the unity that now exists in the camp as the club strives to leave the stormy 2018-’19 PSL term behind.Cash flow problems overshadowed Celtic this past season, giving rise to protest by both players and employees. Ramabodu said enlisting ten new players signalled a new dawn for the club. These players are Siphelele Luthuli, Tumiso Mogakwe, Sello Matjila, Motebang Sera, Tumelo Njoti, Mondli Mpoto, Andile Fikizolo, Jackson Mabokgwane, Harris Tchilimbou and Aviwe Nyamende.
