New productions awaited

2015-12-09 06:00

THE Vrystaat Arts Festival, with the support of the University of the Free State (UFS), invites all theatre practitioners to propose one or more new production(s) for next year’s festival.

Up to R100 000 will be made available for the development of new work.

With this investment in the arts, the festival organisers would like to offer the opportunity to both emerging and established theatre practitioners to come up with creative project proposals to foster the creation of new productions.

The Vrystaat Arts Festival’s existing book programme will be significantly expanded for next year’s festival, which is why the organisers are looking for plays and literature-based theatre productions dealing with major South African books, or renowned South African writers.

The festival welcomes applications in which, alongside Afrikaans, elements of other South African languages are included.

Interested parties can email a full proposal, as well as a script or part of a script, to Theo Kemp at by no later than Friday, 29 January 2016.
