NGO ‘lives life in light’

2018-11-21 06:01

A non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in the Northern Cape, 3L Development, has for 20 years been striving to make the world a better place.

The organisation was founded by seven women from Warrenton and Barkly West who are passionate about community development.

Since its inception in 1998 the organisation’s vision has been for communities to live life in light. This vision is achieved by providing projects across the province which focus on socio-economic empowerment, early childhood development (ECD) and skills development.

The organisation started with small projects, but has now grown to being appointed to manage the community work programme (CWP) in the province with 11 000 participants.

It also has two community service centres which provide young mothers and caregivers with an opportunity to pursue a career in ECD.

The organisation has six offices and works closely with various stakeholders of both the public and private sector in rolling out its projects.

“It has been, and continues to be, a tremendous honour leading this organisation and experiencing the visible impact our projects have on the communities we serve,” said Barry Cronje, chief executive officer of 3L Development.

The organisation is looking to venture into projects that make use of new technology to enhance and train the community and develop the skills of learners, university students and the everyday working individual.
