Passengers utilising the services of the Interstate Bus Lines (IBL) are encouraged to submit nomination forms with the names of candidates to serve on the Passenger Focus Group Committee before or on Saturday (31/03).The call is made to passengers in and around the greater Mangaung region who are utilising IBL buses as their mode of transport. This committee’s goal is to look after the interests of passengers, and people are therefore encouraged to nominate the candidates they would prefer to have serving on the commuters’ body. Thando Lepele, IBL spokesperson, said candidates elected on the passengers’ body will serve voluntarily. The committee represents passengers and liaises with the IBL management on matters such as the requirements relating to transport conditions, the roadworthiness of the buses and tariff increment negotiations. “The objective of the passengers’ body is to create a cooperative environment for commuters in the entire operational area,” Lepele said. The passengers’ committee will consist of 19 passenger representatives from Bloemfontein (5), Botshabelo (8), Thaba Nchu (4) and Brandfort (1). One representative from IBL senior management will also be elected.“Representatives who are nominated should be in possession of a valid IBL tag, and should be a regular passenger residing in or travelling from the area they are nominated to represent. The company has embarked on a process to facilitate the election of a new passengers’ committee to ensure representation in all our operational areas. To this end, we would like to invite all passengers to submit their nominations,” Lepele said.Completed nomination forms can be submitted at Central Park, the office of the Passenger Liaison Officer at the Botshabelo depot, the Botshabelo Mall and the Thaba Nchu depot ticket office.
