The Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit appeals to the community to assist it with information regarding a rape case.

The incident reported to the police is that a woman (24) was walking alone, approaching the Yorkshire Cricket Grounds and the Galeshewe Stadium, when she passed four unknown men.

The men, of whom one was armed with a knife, allegedly followed her until she arrived in the vicinity of Santa.

According to Sgt Majang Skalkie, police spokesperson, the man armed with a knife allegedly grabbed the woman and raped her while the other men watched.

A second man allegedly attempted to rape her, but then apparently saw a vehicle passing and the four men fled the scene.

“We appeal to the community for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect. Contact the police with any information that can assist in solving the case,” said Skalkie.

Those with information can call the investigating officer, Det.WO Conrad de Jongh, on 053-807-6161 or 072-869-0378.
