The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Galeshewe appeals to the community to assist it in tracing a man suspected to be involved in the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl.

It is alleged that on 22 March at about 19:00 the victim was walking alone from a tuck shop to her home when she was approached by a man known to her.

According to Sgt Majang Skalkie, police spokesperson, the man allegedly forced her to walk with him to his shack.

“The mother came looking for her at the suspect’s shack and found the victim. The police are investigating a case of attempted rape,” said Skalkie.

The suspect is described as a Mozambican national, who is of slender build, dark in complexion and aged between 25 and 30.

The police appeal to anyone who has information about the suspect’s whereabouts or information about the incident to contact Const. Setshego Matlhale on 062-802-4569.
