Police looking for information

The police in Modderrivier have launched an intensive search for a man that stabbed a 34-year-old man to death in Ritchie on Saturday (29/11) morning.

It is alleged that the deceased and his friend were walking in the streets of Ritchie on Saturday morning at about 01:30 when they were attacked.

According to Col Mohale Ramatseba, the deceased was stabbed with a knife in his neck and was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.

Robbery is suspected to be the motive as the deceased’s cellphone was stolen.

“The deceased has been identified as April Pretorius. The police are making an appeal to Mervyn March to contact the police as he can assist with the investigation,” appealed Ramatseba. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of March is requested to contact Const. Lionel Modise of the Modderrivier police on 082-301-9995.

  • All information will be treated as confidential. In a separate incident, the police in Kimberley are investigating a case of culpable homicide after two vehicles collided head on along the N12, 10 km towards Kimberley at about 22:30 on Saturday (29/11).

It is alleged that a Nissan bakkie collided head on with a Citi Golf and the driver of the Citi Golf, Romano Pheense, was apparently killed instantly.

The driver of the bakkie, Lebona Tshabile, also died later on the scene.

Two women who were in the bakkie, were rushed to the Kimberley Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
