The police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Galeshewe is searching for a suspect in the rape case of a 17-year-old girl residing in Ivory Park, Roodepan.

The suspect allegedly asked the victim to accompany him to shacks in Gregory Park and, on their way back, the suspect threatened the victim with a knife and forced her to smoke an unknown substance.

“The victim passed out afterwards and the suspect allegedly raped her and warned her not to tell anyone about the incident,” said Sgt Majang Skalkie, police spokesperson.

The suspect is of slender build, light in complexion and 20 to 25 years old.

“He has a tattoo on his right cheek close to his eye and he is known as Mento.”

An appeal is made to the community to call the investigating officer, Det. Sgt Cindy de Jong, on 082-495-4725.
