Police in Kakamas are appealing to the community to assist them in identifying a man and locating his next of kin.

The body of a man between the ages of 40 and 50 was found in the canal on 3 November near Alheit, Kakamas.

The person is described by police as slender-built and approximately 1,64 m tall with short curly black hair and brown eyes.

He was dressed in a blue T-shirt, blue jeans and was wearing black and white tekkies.

Capt. Francois Steenkamp says that the person must have been in the canal for almost a week.

“There is also a possibility that the person is a seasonal worker from somewhere else,” Steenkamp says.

Anyone who can assist the police in tfinding the next of kin or anyone who may know the identity of the deceased is asked to call Det.WO Frikkie van Wyk at the police’s detective services in Kakamas on 054-431-0863 or on 084-833-8590.
