Programme must come back

Moeti Molelekoa, Welkom:

We, the SABC SAfm listeners, miss waking up to an informative, gracious, articulate Editors’ Forum programme every Sunday morning.

Editor’s Forum used to broadcast every Sunday morning from 08:00 to 09:00. In this programme, editors of both print and online media discussed worldwide news in depth.

A panel of seasoned journalists tackled and analysed news headlines tactfully, comprehensibly and powerfully.

These news pundits embodied dignity, integrity, selflessness and commitment to the truth that creates the heart of journalism.

The purpose of the radio is to inform, educate and entertain.

This programme contained all these ingredients in one product.

The editors also reviewed news that dominated the previous week and previewed their work for the week ahead.

They scrutinised each day’s topics, pointing out their highlights of the week and also predicting headlines for the next week.

It impacted my life and surely journalism students were empowered by it as well.

Once the SABC ad hoc committee wraps up, the dust settles and people go back to the drawing board, this is the first programme that I strongly believe should be reinstated.
