Catherine Mofahla, principal of the Free State School of Nursing’s Pelonomi satellite campus:I hereby wish to clarify the report published in the Express edition of 11 September. The article, “Students take initiative” on page 6 of the newspaper was about the community painting project. Projects like these are done annually for institutions like crèches, schools, etc. It was then proposed to the students by management to consider doing an internal project in this round, to prepare and support for the accreditation process. The students were called in to clarify the information captured in the newspaper, as it sounded derogatory and bringing the Department of Health into disrepute. Unfortunately, they indicated that what has been captured is not what they presented. According to them, they explained that the purpose they are doing projects of this kind will also serve as motivation for the groups that come after them, to continue with projects aimed at community participation and involvement.Major renovations are planned by the Free State Department of Health infrastructure. This was meant to be a temporary relief measure.
