The 43-year-old legacy brand, Timbercity, with the help of its iconic mascot, Chippie the beaver, is planning to donate soccer kits and balls to ten needy teams ahead of the 2018 Soccer World Cup.

Members of the community are encouraged to nominate a schoolorganisation or team to win, as every soccer player and future soccer star deserves to play in gear they can be proud of.

To enter the competition, visit www.chippieschampions.co.za to nominate a team.

Five junior and five senior soccer kits are up for grabs.

According to Murishca Martheze, brand manager of Timbercity, the project aims to was born out of the need to take Chippie back to school andimpact the latest generation as the brand did back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

“Many people will remember the iconic Timbercity jingle, it has become a nostalgic memory, and we want to tap into that,” Martheze said. Everyone remembers the Timbercity jingle, it has become a nostalgic memory, and we want to tap into that.

“We believe in doing good and uplifting young people, and the Chippie’s Champions project is just one of the many initiatives we are planning for 2018.”
