Promotion dream realised

2018-07-11 06:02

“We did it, we managed to get that promotion in a period of just two years.”

These were the proud words of the jubilant manager of the Windsorton-based Black Stars Football Club, Isaac Morgan, after his club was promoted to the SAB League over the weekend.

Black Stars beat their opponent, Rainbow Stars FC, by 2 – 0 in the finals of the Inter-LFA promotion league play-offs on Saturday (07/07).

The team has been in a celebratory mood following the victory at the King George sports grounds in Galeshewe.

According to Morgan, he started the club, which now has 25 players, in 2014 and only joined the local football association (LFA) in 2016.

After testing the waters in their first year, they worked on their goal to earn promotion.

“This season was good, as we never lost a single one of the 12 games we played.

“We only drew three and won the rest,” said the proud manager.

“We also won the Easter Tournament and the Losasaneng Tournament in December.”

He said working towards the promotion was not much of a challenge, as his boys showed focus and dedication.

The next move for the team is now to put their focus on beating their new opponents in the SAB League.

Their strategy is to observe the first four teams in the league, to challenge them.

“We expect hurdles this season, and we will respect each and every team, as they all fought to be where they are.

“But they must watch out, because we are not here to play games – our only way is upwards,” said Morgan in conclusion.

We expect hurdles this season, and we will respect each and every team, as they all fought to be where they are.
