The Angels Initiative in partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation urges the public to join the educational drive to educate the public on strokes. The team of educators, Fast 112 Heroes, focuses on education. The educational campaign will run until the end of this month and is held countrywide at schools to highlight the negative affects of this illness. According to the Angles Initiative, every day up to 360 South Africans are affected by strokes, with data suggesting that about a third of those who suffer a stroke will die, and a quarter will be left with a life-changing disability. The risk of a stroke increases with age. In South Africa a stroke is the most common cause of death of people older than 50 years.
